The 125 gallon natural planted tank (2/8/09), newly set up on 2/27/05. It currently houses corys, 6 featherfin catfish, a common pleco, bristlenose plecos, 3 angels, a bunch of endlers, a female betta, two Betta cf. pugnax, and various snails.

Our 55 gallon tank on 2/5/05 with Lumpy our big black moor and our three new Goldies: Bugsy--the smaller black moor; Stripe the white ryunkin, and Coco the chocolate oranda. This tank has an undergravel filter hooked to a Penguin 330 Biowheel and a powerhead in the middle of the tank. The plants are potted in topsoil with an overlayer of gravel. Current potted plants include: swords (Amazon, oriental, radican, red melon and brasil), jungle val, wysteria, hygro, and sunset hygro. There is also java fern, anacharis, and hornwort tied to slate along with some najas grass. Lighting is currently 115 watts 5000K, 40 watts wide-spectrum grow light and 75 watts 6500K. It also houses 20+ large ramshorn snails whose eggs/babies serve as a renewable food source for the goldies.

Here's the plant filter/trickle tower filter I built. It holds about 20 gallons of water. I plumbed it with pvc. A powerhead pumps water from the goldie tank to the plant filter. The water drains back to the goldie tank by gravity. It's loaded with emergent plants. I'm running 2 75 watt 5000K and 1 75 watt 6500K compact fluorescent lights over the plant filter

the 150 gallon goldie tank (12/2/08)

the 120 gallon fancy goldie tank (8/30/08)

The 20 gallon long tank used to house zebra danios, endlers and a male betta. It has an undergravel filter hooked to a HOB filter and a powerhead. Plants include: anubias, najas grass, and java fern. (9/4/05)

The 20 gallon tall tank is now a Walstad natural planted tank and currently houses some swordtail fry, and a trio of brown bristlenose plecos. It's currently sitting by a south window. Plants include: e tenellus, jungle vals, bronze crypt wendtti, and crypt ciliata. The pic is from 2/8/09.

The 30 gallon bowfront. It too is set up as a Walstad natural planted tank. It houses a breeding pair of albino bristlenose plecos and their offspring. Plants include L and middle front Echinodorus parviflorus v Tropica, Marsilea quadrifolia and some recently added dwarf hair grass (Eleocharis parvula) which I doubt will grow. R and rear are red rubin swords. The pic is from 2/9/09.

The 5 gallon bowfront set up on 9/2/05. It too is set up as a Walstad natural planted tank. It will house cherry shrimp. The pic is from September, 4, 2005.
