I did a study where I asked people who were currently in love to rate each of Fehr's descriptions of types of nonfamilial love in terms of how well each represented their current experience of love. Listed below are the types of love and their factor loadings. Higher factor loadings mean that the love type is more central to defining that factor. You'll notice that friendship loads on both the intimacy dimension and on the commitment dimension and that the romantic type of love loaded on both the passion and commitment dimensions. Each type of love below is linked back to it's description.
| Passion | Loading |
| Infatuation | .82 |
| Puppy | .78 |
| Passionate | .73 |
| Sexual | .68 |
| Romantic | .51 |
| Intimacy | |
| Affection | .84 |
| Platonic | .80 |
| Friendship | .72 |
| Commitment | |
| Committed | .87 |
| Romantic | .66 |
| Friendship | .44 |
